Filippo Bartolotta, Sommelier and Wine Educator of “The Wine Experience” based in Florence, takes us through a delicious experience of the four Valpolicella Wines from the Valpolicella Alps region near Verona, Italy.

Filippo is also the docent of the Valpolicella Education Program for the Consorzio della Valpolicella, and takes us through this extraordinary mountainous region of Italy. The Valpolicella flavor profile also stems from a unique soil type due to the limestone embedded in the underground caused by an ancient volcanic eruption- adding minerals to the profile of the wines, giving them a one-of-a-kind taste and smell to the varieties of wines. The grapes grown in Valpolicella – Corvina, Corvinone, Molinara and Rondinella – are world-renowned for their outstanding flavor and yield that brings much well deserved attention to the wineries of the region.

Filippo recommends tasting these 4 wines today:

Valpolicella

Ripasso

Amarone

Recioto

Let us know what you think of these wines. And stay tuned for a deeper dive on the process of making the four wines of Valpolicella with Filippo in 2020. Cheers!
