WINE WEDNESDAY: David’s Wine of the Week (and a ROSENGARTEN REPORT Preview!) 474 474 David Rosengarten

The publication of the 3rd ROSENGARTEN REPORT is just around the corner…

In anticipation, we’re posting as a Wine Wednesday today a sneak peek at the wines that will be covered in that issue…the glorious wines of Alto Adige, Italy’s most northern wine-growing region.

The ROSENGARTEN REPORT story looks at the white wines of this great area—sleek, flavorful cool-climate beauties that make so much sense as summer sippers!

There are many Alto Adige wines in the issue, which arrives on June 15 (don’t forget to subscribe here!!) The wines in the ROSENGARTEN REPORT also include my unique, alpha-numeric rating system, which tells you about each wine’s suitability for food!

Here’s one of my favorite 2014 whites from Alto Adige:

2014 Müller Thurgau, Cantina Andriano

Very light straw with glint of green. Lovely general fruit, but with definite Germanic peach/apricot shading. Fascinating time-line of textures. Almost sparkling-looking in the glass. Then it becomes rich wine at first taste, before a mid-palate drop—leaving a hole that can be perfectly filled in by food! Dry, good acidity—really all you could want in a picnic wine!
