2010 Domaine Boyer-Gontard Chorey-les-Beaune Les Champs Piétant ($40)

“Something special happened in Chorey-les-Beaune in the excellent 2010 vintage. Wines from this commune, situated in a triangle with the city of Beaune and the great wine town of Aloxe-Corton, have long been underrated…but 2010, from which I’ve tasted 5 or 6 excellent Chorey-les-Beaunes, may turn the tide.

This one is my fave: a very bright medium garnet in the glass, exquisite light Burgundy silk on the palate, a glorious food wine. This is one of the purest expressions of Pinot Noir you’ll ever taste: no winemaking tricks, just Pinot. My favorite dish for it? A frisée salad, with browned potato cubes, croutons, a poached egg…and maybe some sautéed chicken livers, as they do in Beaujolais!” – David Rosengarten
