“A wonderful, forward-thinking Languedoc winery not far from the Mediterranean coast. Opi d’Aqui (which means “opium of here”) is owned by international entrepreneur Alain Coumont, proprietor of the restaurant/bakery group Le Pain Quotidien. The winery is organic, and follows a careful regimen of sustainable practices.

“Fantastic bistro wine made from 100% Grenache that has been vinified through carbonic maceration. But forget Beaujolais Nouveau! This wine, in addition to its riotous strawberry tones, also features aromas of kirsch, eau-de-vie, and the garrigue that surrounds the vineyards (hints of thyme, rosemary, mint, etc.) It is light and elegant on the palate, with little tannin—a fabulously delicious guzzle with everything from charcuterie to roast lamb!” – David Rosengarten
